My wife wanted to go to Edinburgh Outlets.
I wanted to get out.

So we went. I put in at Atterbury,
E 800 S/ Hospital Road
North on Mauxberry
and Right/east before you drive into Pisgah lake/pond. (Atterbury Rd.)

That is the same put in Blue's is using for one of their trips. Maybe it's Furnas Mill dam, which is in the book.

USGS 03362500 SUGAR CREEK NEAR EDINBURGH, IN
Gauge 4.25'
CFS - 80

If that isn't the right gauge for the particular creek I was on please correct me. I was looking through the Paddle Indiana book and couldn't sort out, Driftwood v. whatever else.

I was using a 12.5 Dagger Blackwater. There was a little dragging. Some of it would have been avoided by picking a better line.

It was about 4 hours to the take out in the park, on the far side of Blue's take out.

Pretty good trip, I was regretting not dragging the boys and another boat at the put in. There are a lot of interesting elevation changes and ripples, the long boring straights, aren't terribly long or boring.

I passed all the rental boats I saw.

I also saw 4 or 5 guys fishing at one of the dams. 2 had Old Town "Pack" 11 foot canoes, they looked narrower than mine, but very attractive boats. The others were on better than rental grade kayaks. It looked like fun.

Blue and everyone who has gone before me have done a good job of keeping everything passable. There was one spot that was kind of dicey. There is signage in useful places.

But some of the "alternate" routes looked like they were worth checking out. The approved routes are the long way around an island. The "alternates" mostly feature a steep drop into a cauldron of swirling water and fallen trees and the most direct route either downstream, or the hospital or a nice walk on a dry creek bed.

Didn't see much wildlife, they were probably indoor enjoying some A/C. I did see some fish that made me wish I had brought a pole. And quite a few tattoo'ed and pierced paddlers, very colorful.
